“It was a special moment for us”

We couldn’t get this close to Christmas and not have a bit of snow!

Dennis and his wife timed their Away Resorts break at Sandy Balls Holiday Village perfectly for the first snow of the year for the full festive feeling!

He generously shared his journey to joining the Army, the positives and the negatives of military life, and the impact of the break on him and his wife.

“I am the first generation of my family to have joined the British Army. It was a tough decision for my family, as it meant I was going be away for most of the year. But they eventually gave me their support and a beautiful career was born. Breaking boundaries, travelling the world making friends for life and impacting generations to be the BEST.

“Being part of the Army brings an atmosphere of mixed feelings in as much as you help maintain peace and order on the world stage, but it also takes you away from your primary responsibility of being a part of a family. Limited time together, broken connections and communication, and psychological problems are a few things one may experience.

“I was extremely grateful and relieved when I heard I had been offered this break, because it was going to help my wife and I reconnect with each other and help us cope with our situation.

“It was my wife’s first snow experience, so we waited all night to see it finally touch down. . I would encourage other military families who are considering booking through Give Us Time to go for it – it has been a good experience and my wife and I are very excited and grateful!”
Our wonderful supporters, Away Resorts, who have helped us with our Biggest Christmas Ever, told us, “At Away Resorts, we’re honoured to continue our partnership with Give Us Time. Creating cherished memories is at the heart of what we do, and these families—who have given so much—deserve them more than most. It’s truly heartwarming to see them reconnect and enjoy precious moments together at our beautiful locations”
