Former Colonel, David Richmond CBE, joins service charity Give Us Time as an Ambassador

Give Us Time is delighted to announce our new Ambassador, Colonel (Retired), David Richmond CBE.  David, a former Commanding Officer of 5th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland, served in Afghanistan and Iraq.  In 2008 he became the most senior officer injured in combat in Afghanistan when he was shot in the leg during a Battle Group operation in Helmand Province. He underwent four years of reconstructive surgery and rehabilitation for his injury before being medically discharged.

David joined Help for Heroes as their first Director of Recovery in 2012 and was responsible for the four Help for Heroes Recovery Centres in; Tidworth; Catterick; Colchester and Plymouth. He also looked after their fellowship organisations, Band of Brothers and Band of Sisters. At the same time, he was a Partnership Board Member of the UK Invictus Games team, for their first three games and the UK Team Director as well as Chairman of Selectors.

David currently heads up the Government’s new Office for Veterans’ Affairs, where he leads efforts to make the UK the best country in the world to be a veteran.

David has a deep understanding of the pivotal role families have in supporting both serving personnel and veterans and the challenges military families face.  We are delighted to welcome David as our new Ambassador and we look forward to working together in support of our great Armed Forces’ community.
