This is Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, which has the theme this year of “Know Yourself, Grow Yourself”, which encourages children to “to discover how getting to know who they are can help them build resilience, grow and develop”.

For Forces children, knowing who they are can be a challenge – the stability that helps create a sense of self is affected by frequent moves, having to leave friends, and make new ones, learn the rhythms and routines at a new school and be part of a new community, and having to do this far away from extended family, with one parent working away, sometimes for months at a time, can be hugely difficult.

At Give Us Time, we are incredibly proud to have supported more than 2,000 children to spend vital time with their families, making those precious memories together which are so important to strengthen family bonds.
