Tom and his family visited the Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre over the summer, thanks to a wonderful donation to our Give Us A Moment programme.
He told us, ‘The centre is a natural environment, we were given a very warm welcome by all the staff and encouraged to ask questions, my children were concerned by the birds being tethered however the staff took great pains to outline why this was necessary and how the birds benefit from it and are happy. The aviaries were spacious and the birds have plenty of room to move.
‘A myriad of bird species were there, my children (and I) were particularly taken by the golden eagle. Being able to see this majestic animal close up was phenomenal. The flying displays by a selection of birds was worth the entrance fee on its own, to feel the wind rush from birds of prey flying inches above one’s head was amazing. Even if a red kite did get a little too close for comfort and contact my head with its wing!
‘It’s a perfect destination for those wanting to connect with wildlife and learn more about birds of prey in a beautiful environment.’
Thank you to the whole team at the centre for their donation and helping this Forces family make such special memories!
