A massive thank you to Give Us Time for allowing me the opportunity to spend a few days away at Kidlandlee, it was absolutely amazing and just what we needed as a family. So, the break: I looked at the advice before we left home and, to be honest was not quite sure what to expect which started with the recommendation for a 4×4 vehicle! We were fortunate that the weather was mild so made the 3 mile uphill drive from turning off the main road with no issue but I can imagine if there was snow or ice on the ground you would indeed need a 4×4 or off road tyres as the track gets steep and rutted for a bit towards the top. It is well signposted and you should have no issue finding your cottage when you get there.
Once we arrived we entered the cottage and have to say we were blown away by the high standard and equipment supplied. It was immaculate and everything we needed was right there for us to use including the fully fitted kitchen and complimentary local produce but it did not stop there as the dogs had a goody bag as well!
We requested the stargazing kit and were fortunate that the second night was totally clear so got to see the whole sky which kept the kids entertained for hours.
Over the trip we spent most of the days exploring the local area as there are miles and miles of paths and walks which were so picturesque but you will need sturdy boots to get around the mountains! Once walks were completed it was back to the cottage to relax with hot chocolate and sit in front of the log burner (the kids favorite part of the stay).
We didn’t really need to venture out but did go to the local town for a meal at the Star Inn at Harbottle and can also recommend this as a fantastic place to eat and drink, so friendly and pretty good value.
Once again, I cannot thank Give Us Time enough for organising this break for us and I would encourage anyone who is offered this kind of break, especially to Kidlandlee, to snap it up and look forward to an amazing experience.
